It was always such a pleasure appearing before Justice Henry Vogelsang. He was always so courteous, kind and wise. As i appeared more frequently before Henry, I realized he had a sense of humour. I have so many fond memories of being in Henry's Court. I can remember one Conference where the opposing party was being unreasonable about a family pet - a cat. Henry told counsel and the parties that, "I am a cat person!". We bonded over cats!
He was such a dear, dear gentleman and will be missed. Sending thoughts of comfort to the family and friends.

I was privileged to meet Henry at a get together for CPRI supervisors in the 80’s. My wife Cindy and Henry were the only smokers and so spent a fair amount of time in the garage. When I told Cindy Henry was a noted judge she was so impressed with how “ regular” a guy he was and just so friendly and funny. You picked your partner well Elley, and he obviously ruled in your favour as well❤️

My friendship with His Honour (or Henri as I called him) extended back to our high school days at London Central. He remained a valued colleague and friend for over 65 years. Henry reflected all that could be good in a Justice of the Court,...kind, courteous, empathetic, understanding and wise. He respected all who came before him. His loss is shared by his colleagues on the bench, counsel who cam before him, those that worked closely with him and most importantly those members of the public who appeared before him.
I hope his family is comforted by the memories of many good times together. May he rest in peace.

Mr. Justice Vogelsang's passing leaves a profound void in our lives. I had the privilege of working with him for decades, starting in 1981. His wisdom, patience, and infectious sense of humor made every interaction a joy. He inspired countless lawyers, judges, and courthouse staff, with his exceptional leadership, kindness, and good judgment. We are all grateful for the time he spent with us, and his legacy will continue to guide us.
Rest in peace, Your Honour.
Thank you for your friendship.

My memories of Henry date back to 1975 when I began practicing law in London. As a lawyer, judge and friend , Henry was the ultimate as an advocate, jurist and colleague. I always enjoyed appearing before him as he always demonstrated patience, understanding, empathy and common sense that made him respected by all who appeared before him. He always kept his sense of humour and I will always remember, with fondness, his unique laugh with that huge smile. He was just a nice man to call friend and colleague.
I know that all of his family with continue to keep in their hearts and memories the wonderful qualities that Henry gave to us all.

I had the great pleasure of appearing before his Honour in Family Court for more than 20 years before his retirement in 2017. On each of those occasions, he treated counsel and the parties with the utmost respect. He demanded the best from counsel in preparation on the facts and the law AND THE RULES! and you knew you had to be extra careful in your preparation on the night before an attendance in his Court to be sure you could answer tough questions. He had the gift of teaching lawyers, young and old how to be better advocates - always with a sense of humour. I remember how hard it was to accept the fact that he had retired from the bench and now I just wish that he had been blessed with a few more additional years to enjoy his richly deserved retirement. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and children and grandchildren at this very difficult time. We in the family law bar of London Ontario were so very lucky to have had the privilege to know Mr. Justice Vogelsang.

Justice Vogelsang you will be missed! He was one of the ones that made Family Court a little more bearable. Whether it was moving the tables around for conferences, looking through the file because he couldn't find something, or running back to his chambers to grab whatever it was he forget on his desk, I enjoyed every minute of working with His Honour. The jokes about my height since there was someone shorter than him, the questions on what the "new generation" fashion was, or just the talks about our families....I will forever cherish.
Thank you for all your guidance, wisdom and belly laughs. RIP to The Honourable Mr Justice H. Vogelsang!

I will always remember Justice Vogelsang as one of the sharpest but also kindest judges who dedicated himself to providing genuine guidance and real professional mentorship when I first began practising in London's family courts. His unique combination of humour with his passion for and deep understanding of the law - we could sit around the counsel tables in courtrooms he'd have had moved around for conferences - to chat about a file for a few minutes, shaped my approach to files and practice. His direct-but-gracious approach to both families involved in family court, and to young lawyers still getting their feet wet, brought a little bit of humour, colour and some real humanity into a system that feel pretty dreary some days, and he really will be missed. My deepest condolences go out to his family and his friends and senior colleagues.

I am very sorry to learn of Justice Vogelsang's passing. To this day, I rely on the binder of materials I have from his Evidence Night presentations to the MFLA, and I referenced them with my son just last week as he prepared for Family Court. Henry encouraged me over the years and inspired me to proof read again, to prepare more, and not to recite the facts but use the facts to make arguments. I was grateful for his presence, and he will be missed.
