You sure are & always will be special G-pa to Cedella. I am so honored that you were the first man to hold my daughter. It was love at first sight for you both as you shared a bond like no other. The 2 of you became best of friends & loved sharing time with eachother. I know everyone has their time to go but our days aren't the same without you as I'm sure you know. I promise to stay strong & take the best care of your favorite little friend. Memories last forever & love has no end. RiP G-pa John. Melisa & Cedella.

John was the kindest soul. He helped anyone who needed it and loved to cook for people. He always made me laugh and always had a hug when I needed it.
John will truly be missed by all. Such a light in this world. Love you John Rest In Peace XOXO

My sincerest condolences to the Downie family. John will be truly missed. I shared a memory with John one Sunday morning at the Wortley for breakfast a few months ago and we had a good laugh. When John was turning 50, I made a sign that I stuck to the back of his car that said "Honk, I'm 50 today!". John didn't see the sign until he got to work and thought people were just being overly friendly on his morning commute!!! I got him good!! John was always good to my family and I and we had some great talks and laughs. I am really going to miss him!
